Swimming pool heat pumps are a great alternative to gas heaters and are designed to heat a swimming pool using electricity. Delivering up to five times more energy in heat than it consumes electricity, the pool heat pump technology is based on the same principals employed by air conditioners and refrigerators. The inverter pool heat pump extracts latent heat from the atmosphere, with 80% of the required power coming from the air. The warmer it is, the better it works.

The use of electric swimming pool heat pumps has become extremely popular especially with the introduction of inverter technology, which reduces the overall running cost. A correctly sized electric pool heat pump can provide a consistent year-round heating solution for pool owners who want to use the pool on a frequent basis. Swimming pool heat pumps also provide a solution for situations where traditional solar pool heating roof space has been allocated to photovoltaic (PV) electricity panels. The size of the PV solar pool heating system should allow for the energy requirements of the electric pool heat pump in addition to the household. The consumer must take this into consideration when sizing the PV solar pool heating system for the home. The risk of not doing so can result in generated power for the home being consumed by the pool heat pump.

Our Heatseeker VortexPro offers the ability to dynamically vary the working frequency of the inverter compressor, boasting even greater performance. This, coupled with the synchronisation of the fan and compressor speeds, optimises air flow to and from the heat pump. The enhanced technology of the VortexPro provides up to 50% higher efficiency with a COP of up to 15 compared to an on/off heat pump.
